About Charter Consulting Group

Several years ago my daughter left her university size Texas High School to attend the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts, an award winning Charter School. There were about 25 students in her graduating class of 2004 and her experience was remarkable in every way. This was my introduction to Charter Schools.

A short time later, I volunteered to help manage the technology infrastructure at the school and found myself in the middle of "Educators" for the first time. I was profoundly affected by the dedication of these individuals and their devotion to helping my child, and others as well; an experience wholly unlike I found in our traditional High School. This was my conversion to the Charter School movement.

This began a launch of a second career and my foray into the world of Technical Consulting. What I have learned is that Charter Schools are the "Red headed Step Children" of our education system. They are expected to perform and comply with the endless stream of requirements coming from State and Federal regulations with only a fraction of the resources provided traditional districts. And this became my passion.... serving the Charter School Movement.

Through dogged determination and creative, yet practical thinking I have discovered some very efficient ways of providing technical services to the Charter School. Our growing list of schools under contract is evidence that our system works.

If you are a Free Standing Charter School struggling to make all of the technology pieces fit together, we can help. And this is an aspect of school management that simply cannot be left to volunteers or staff members who manage technology as an added assignment.

We would be happy to discuss with you our outsourcing options. Please feel free to contact us or check with one of the references listed on our site.

Best Wishes,

gk_webI started in Information and Technology / Information Systems over 16 years ago.  Starting with my employment at ATK Thiokol leading up to where I worked at Convergys in their corporate IT sector.  While I was at Convergys I learned of a school that needed IT resources, my children were getting to the age where they were starting into the mainstream of education.

As time progressed I found myself thinking more and more that our education system needs to be giving students not just the basics but also the comprehensive technology skills that they will need to compete in the world in which they would belong to.

I became employed by a Public Charter School in down town Ogden to make a difference in the way education and technology are taught, perceived and used, I became involved to bring these resources to the students to enable them with the tools and knowledge they will need for the business world, to many schools simply fall short of those business and technology skills due to a lack of funding or a lack of knowledge.  While at that Public Charter School I acted as part time IT Director while also teaching for the first 4 years all the technology courses, while maintaining the website, the systems, SIS administrator, etc...

I learned from first-hand experience what the teachers, students, parents, staff and administration want and need, what the schools need and how to combine the two to exists together and be beneficial, not the necessary evil that most make it out to be.  For the last 2 years of my employment at this Public Charter School, I gave up teaching to be the schools full time IT Director.  Now I have become a partner with CCGUtah to help provide technical services to Charter Schools and businesses alike.   Where resources and funding are very hard to come by and are so often constrained in our education system, we counterbalance that.  There are easier ways to make your infrastructure, communications, software; day to day items… all of it, work for you and your school.  Simply let us handle it for you.

I have worked with Charter Schools, the State Office of Education, UEN and other various educational organizations and technology organizations for the last 7 years.  I have and continue to serve on many national and state panels and organizations in various capacities making sure that whatever school employees us that they will have the best resources at the most cost effective number.  During my employment history I have learned and gained the technical education to help our clients with whatever demand they have and with whatever the State or other institutions may ask of them.

I have a personal interest and investment in Charter Schools, besides being with one for the last 7 years; my wife is a Director at a Charter School.  I know how to help you as the director, the teacher, the parent or student focus on what you are there to focus on… the finale outcome of the student and that students success.
